I've recently had a new desktop computer. The HP Photosmart C5280 is working fine. However, it now won't connect with my husband's laptop which is downstairs. We had no problem when I was using a laptop upstairs. Finally, mad as hell, I uninstalled the printer from my husband's laptop (no easy task for some reason) then after a restart tried to install the printer again.
Firstly, the printer isn't listed. A message says no printers available.
Secondly, When I manually insert the name I get a Windows logon box which asks for username and password. We've never been asked for these before and have no idea what they are or where to find them. There is no password connected to my husband's laptop, nor mine as far as I can tell.
I've tried various names and passwords that he uses but the password is rejected each time. though not the username.
Is there a way to bypass this? If not, can someone please tell me what to do - in simple terms please. I've spent hours trying to solve this without success.
