A friend of mine has asked me tot try to resolve this issue. Her daughter has the same model laptop (Acer Aspire 5733) also running Win7. Her daughter's laptop successfully connects to their wireless network and internet. Her laptop connects but does not get IP settings. I brought it home to my place and it also connects to my wireless router but does not get IP settings.
I have tried everything to resolve:
1. Uninstall & reinstall newer wireless modem drivers
2. Shutdown Firewall
3. Manually setting IP settings (see if it would then connect to the internet - NADA!)
At a loss as to what to try next!
