Connection drops

I currently have a HP Pavilion-DV7 and recently I've been getting some bad latency or complete disconnections from the network. I've had this baby for about 3 years and it started happening a week after setting up our new Centurylink internet service. The connection was fine for about a week, then the drops started kicking in.

I've called them about this problem and researched some stuff on my own, CenturyLink says it's perfectly fine on their side and assumed it was my wi-fi channel. After switching, no positive results from it. On my end of the research, other people have told me it's my SNR which is - Downstream: 24dB Upstream: 6dB. They've told my upstream margin is low and something I should worry about, while CenturyLink is telling me it's completely stable.

Another notable thing is that when I drop from my connection, other connections that I would and should be in range of, drops off my connection list as well. So I'm not particularly sure if there's a recent problem with my laptop or on the service provider's side.
