Hi I have a old laptop (fujitsu Amilo m1451g) running on just newly reinstalled win xp home edition. I thought I had successfully installed all relevant drivers including intel R pro/wireless 2915abg network connection adaptor. I am getting available wireless connections in my area including my neighbours (which all require a network key and come up in list security enabled wireless networks (WPA) this network requires a network key. when you double click on a neighbours network I get the dialogue box asking me for their network key. My network doesn't have this dialogue box coming up come up asking for network key? Under its name on list it says "security enabled wireless network" but no (WPA) is mentioned on my network. When I click on it it says "if you want to connect to this network, click connect," which I do... I then get "please wait while windows connects to the TNCAPC1F9E1 network - detecting network type". an error message comes back which reads "windows is unable to connect to the selected network, the network may no longer be in range. please refresh the list of available networks and try to connect again.OK". I click on ok. I have refreshed my network list, I am situated near my router, I have reset my router. My new laptop running win 7 connects fine along with my ipad & iphone etc to my router so I cannot understand what is happening here. I have even tried manually adding the network in and I am still not having any joy? I have a CMD and ipcong/all for you if it helps. Please help as I am demented with all this! This old laptop has connected wirelessly before to my network but because I had to reinstall windows xp I am having all these problems. In device manager I have a yellow exclamation mark under other devices- modem device on high definition audio bus. I don't know if that affects this?
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice.
