This is probably (hopefully) a very resolvable issue, but since I am a beginner with PC's I don't really know what I'm doing. I recently was given a Windows 7 PC with absolutely no internet connection. The previous owner had it directly connected to their router, but since mine is in a different room to the router (and I can't change this since the router is in my hallway downstairs with no room for a big PC- I am probably about 4 metres from the box though), I wondered what the best way to get connection would be. It tells me I need to set up an ethernet cable but as I said previously, I don't think this is an option.
Would a USB wireless adapter that is plugged in offer me immediate connection, one with an antenna attached? My concern lays in the fact that I don't have slow or "bipolar" connection- but that I have absolutely no connection. So can I connect the USB and make it work without any connection to start with? (I hope this makes sense)
I've also heard of the PCI card which you slip in the tower but I don't really feel like messing with the hardware of it at the moment... so I think the USB is the best option, if it'll work.
