Hey, I hope I am posting this in the right place.
For the past few months, I have been suffering from the most irritating of any computer issues I've experienced. For some reason, every couple of minutes, I will drop access to wireless and wired internet. This began in April, about a week after a fresh install on a PC (it is a very powerful computer, as well). I have multiple other computers/devices connected to the same router by both wifi and ethernet, but only this PC has any issues.
The first time this occurred, in April, it happened for a week straight. I "cured" it after about 48 hours of troubleshooting by removing a D-Link driver, which was my Wifi driver. I operated on LAN alone from that point (Realtek GBE Family PCIe Controller x2). I assumed the D-Link and Realtek drivers were conflicting with eachother, for whatever reason. It has been flawless, up to about one month ago.
In May, the same issue began again out of the blue (as soon as I turned my computer on after a weekend away). I lost access to the internet every few moments (at this point, it was wired only). I solved it after a few hours by doing a system restore to about ~3 days prior, when Windows did an update. I assumed a Windows updated restarted the issue with the Wifi for some reason and, once solved, let it be. That is, until it began again.
As of yesterday, I have been dropping internet every 10-40 minutes, with the longest activity of internet after restarting, shortest after the initial loss (after losing once, I lose it once every 1-5 minutes). I lose both Wifi and Wireless, but do not lose access to the network. I am still sending and receiving packets, but cannot connect to the internet. On the Windows chart, it displays as a connection error at the point of Network, with the Internet being grayed out. Sometimes I will fully lose connection, usually it is "limited connectivity."
To repair it, I simply "diagnose" the issue with the Windows troubleshooter, and that fixes it for about 1-5 minutes. Changing the duplex/speed also restores it for a few moments.
What I have tried so far is as much as I can think to do. I've probably put in well over 36 hours of troubleshooting. I have:
Renewed/Released/refreshed DNS via cmd prompt
Done SFC scans
Scanned for any and all malware
Removed all virus protection software/firewalls
Tried running at various speeds/duplex
Turned off ICPv6
Ran in Ubuntu (issue remained)
Ran in Safe Mode w/ Networking (issue remained)
Uninstalled and reinstalled every driver for the network card (2x GBE and 1x D-Link [removed D-link entirely)
Ensured all drivers up to date
Turned off WOL in BIOS
Turned off "energy saving" in the NIC preferences
Physically molested the NIC (haven't removed it yet, just kinda pushed on it)
Left the tower without power for 12 hours, while occasionally spamming the power button
Tried using a USB ethernet cord to connect to the Internet (same issue occurred)
Using a new Ethernet cord (I've used about three now).
Got a new router (was free, anyway)
Updated to latest Firmware on router (which is about two weeks old from Verizon).
Tried a static IP (taken from IP Config)
Tried Google DNS and Free DNS
There are probably a few more things in there I've tried but forgot. But, that is generally where I am now. I bought a new NIC yesterday, which I will mess with when it arrives later this week. I doubt that will do anything, though.
Here is an exerpt from one of the errors I receive in Event Viewer during a drop (usually it just tells me "www.so-and-so.com could not be loaded"): Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x6C626D57A3F4. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Any more things I can try? I am absolutely desperate at this point. I am posting my ipconfig during a lost connection below. I recorded it while in Safe Mode with Networking.
