Solved: Set up Wireless

Hope I am in the right forum for this;)

I was told I could set up a wireless connection for my Desktop HP W7 thereby freeing me up of about 15 ft of cable and allowing me to move desk to wherever I want. I don't have laptop or notebook or any other type of wireless computer.

So....I bought a Linksys Router and followed instructions on the CD. Unplugged cables from my tower. It set up the connection when I ran the CD but failed to connect to the Internet unless I plugged back in the cable , yellow ( as supplied by ISP from modem to PC), one end in router as per CD instructions to my computer which means I am not wireless and cannot move the desk where I want. When I plugged it back in to my tower I got connected . Unplugged I get error 61 modem etc .

After running their disk and following instructions I did get a name and password
Do I need another adapter or whatever for my computer.


I hope I am making some sense with all of the above.
Any help appreciated.

p.s had to do a system restore as it really messed up my LAN connection:(
