Hi,
I have an Asus Eee PC Seashell PC (1015B)
It has an inbuilt Wireless Adapter using a Broadcom driver that used to work up until a day or so ago.
It has a mechanical switch that can turn on the wireless by toggling through (wireless on bluetooth on), (wireless on bluetooth off), (all off) etc.
I am running Windows 7 but also get the problem if I boot using Hirens CD ROM and run Linux. (Part Magic?)
I have access to 2 different wireless routers that can be seen by this Asus PC and 3 other PC's and 4 smart phones in the house can see and connect to either wireless connection.
In the system tray on the Asus I can see the wireless icon with a yellow asterix across it. If I use the mechanical switch to toggle the wireless adapter on it toggles to showing the wireless symbol and a red cross.
The Asus PC can also toggle the adapter using the Fn and F2 keyboard combination with similar results = either a yellow asterix or a red cross.
If I click on the wireless icon the box that pops ups says -
Not Connected / Connection as are available and then lists the two wireless connections.
If I click on either wireless connection and then click on connect there is an attempt to connect. Eventually a window pops up saying "Windows was not able to connect to xxxxx".
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter under Control Panel / Device Manager / Network Adapter / Broadcom NA
The result is now I am asked for a password when I try to connect but still get the yellow asterix and unable to connect. I am assuming the saved password was deleted when I uninstalled the adapter.
IPCONFIG reports that the Media is Disconnected for the wireless adapter.
IPCONFIG /RELEASE (or /renew) reports - No operation can be performed on W/N/Connection while it has its media disconnected.
Under Network and Sharing it is showing a red x between this PC and the Internet. If I look under Network Connections, the Wireless Network Connection is shown with a red X and Not Connected. I have tried right clicking and disabling and enabling but that does nothing (apart from disabling and enabling the adapter).
What more can I do? How do I "connect the media"?
Thanks
