No media connection

I have been reading on this site about these no media connection I have a Dell with windows 8 only a year old we shut the computer down and it did it's updates on it's own and turned it on the next morning and it says there is no Internet access even though it is connected The Internet company has came out and determined that it is not the Internet I don't know what else to do can anyone help I am using a router netgear but the tower is hardwired to the router The Wi-Fi on other devices are working fine please the lv4 and 6 say no internet access i dont know wat else to do and as a father of home schooled children i need the internet
