Rural Connection Issues 3G vs Hardline

I'm very lucky to live in the countryside as I've just moved out of London.

One major impact is the fact my internet speeds have gone from >10mps to less than 1. I'm too far from the exchange to get anything better and when there is bad weather and the line is blown around it gets even worse (Sundays are always bad) There is no current plan to improve this in the next couple of years based on broadband improvement roll out. I pay for the line and the internet service at almost £25 a month for very little service.

However Vodafone have just installed 3G into our area with 4G planned at some point in the next 3 years. On my phone I get roughly 5mps which is much faster than my landline.

My question is: Can I scrap the hardline connection and phone line and replace them with a 3G dongle system to service my family. If so would I be able to provide this over wifi and via cable. Will this allow the kids to game online. Finally what type of system should I use and which provider would be best.

With the right solution this could solve a lot of connection problems for many families, definitely for everyone who lives near me. I also look forward to not paying for something which costs more for poor service.

Many thanks for any comments
