Router doesn't seem to be broadcasting the SSID

I'm having a problem with my Netgear WRN2500 router. It doesn't seem to be broadcasting the SSID; at least that's my best guess. No devices pick up the wireless signal(iPod, PS4, laptop), ethernet works fine. The router login page says that everything is working correctly. I've tried the factory reset multiple times to no avail.

Things that I notice that seem to be off are the LED below the wifi on/off button never changes when I use it. It is always unlit. While other LED's will change when using the wifi on/off button

Also I am unable to upgrade my firmware from 1.0.0.18NA to 1.0.0.24NA. It always says i'm trying to use the wrong firmware package. I have tried the link on the router login page, and downloading a .zip of the firmware and uploading it myself. I get the same error report about it being the wrong firmware package either way.

One more thing, after performing restore factory settings. The default SSID and password had a character changed from what it was supposed to be. A 5 in the SSID was now a =, and a 3 in the password changed to a {. Not sure why this happnend because those aren't the factory setting it came with

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
