We have a seperate modem and a seperate router. I was wondering if I take the wire that connects them, and instead plug it straight into the computer would I be able to access the internet on this computer without having to do any configuration?
I would also need to plug the wire back into the router sometimes because the rest of the house accesses the internet via the router (it's a wireless one). Would it be possible to do this and not cause any configuration problems?
I realise this is a strange thing to want to do but I am wi-fi sensitive, and it's a lot more comfortable when the connection is wired. If this is possible maybe I could buy some kind of junction box to easily switch connections without unplugging the wire. Sadly changing the router is not an option.
