Our Netgear modem/router combo from ATT has failed so I'm looking for a replacement.
But firstly, I've heard over and over it's better to get a separate modem and router, since routers fail more often. Should I do this then?
And then 2nd, I'm looking for recommendations (for either a combo or the 2 separate). We have 3 computers--the one plugged into the Ethernet has Win Vista; the other 2 wireless ones have Win XP and Win 7. I also have a laptop running Win 7. In addition, I have my Android phone.
We have a relatively low ADSL speed from our ISP--the lowest possible I believe, if that makes a difference.
I personally do a small amount of online gaming and of course the usual streaming video, using either the Ethernet PC or my laptop. The other PCs only use streaming vids.
A couple friends have recommended, router wise, Motorola and Buffalo.
Thanks for your help.
