Please help restore my sanity from this frustrating issue.
My Trendnet gaming adapter (TEW647GA) refuses to be recognized by my Motorola SBG6580 Router/modem. When I configure with either the WPS button or a manual setup method provided by Trendnet tech help, I get a message that the WiFi connection has been successful but when I try to access the IP address for the gaming adapter on two different browsers and two different computers, I always get a timed out or this page can't be displayed message. I also can't access the adapter using it's MAC address & if I ping its IP address, I get the timed out message. Some helpful info:
1. All the major parameters of the router & gaming adapter seem to be compatible (encryption & security are set to WPA2/PSK & AES only as recommended by Trendnet tech support))
2. A security system DVR wired to the gaming adapter has a WiFi test button that shows it is communicating with my wireless network but can't be accessed via the gaming adapter.
3. The original 647 adapter did communicate for over a month so I know it can work. Since it quit working, I've spend too many hours talking with tech help, have exchanged the gaming adapter thinking it was at fault & also exchanged the router thinking it had a faulty WPS button but still am experience the problem of no access to the gaming adapter.
Update: I have discovered another interesting piece of the puzzle since my original post. When I access the Motorola router's website and look under the access control heading, I get the following results for that gaming adapter:
MAC Address AGE RSSI(dMb) IP Addr Host Name Mode Speed(kbps)
00:14:D1:CF:B5:29 29 -22 ERROR ERROR n 144,445
That is the correct MAC address for the gaming adapter but why does the IP & name show an Error? When our laptops are connected via the router, they display correct listings for their IP & Name.
Thanks in advance for any help.
