The particulars are: Windows XP desktop PC currently running with wireless connection (Netgear dongel) to home router at < 5mg. The router and ISP is ~30mg. Testmyspeed on Android says ~30mg. Connect a Netgear Powerline ethernet adapter on both ends and speed does not change. Am I missing something? Cable Guy says the adapter would do it. Have not hardwired PC as of yet and would rather not. The length of Cat 5 cable would be $$$.
