Hi there,
I will try to structure this in an easy to understand way :)
Technical info that might be relevant:
Laptop is ASPIRE 5755G
ISP is Telecom in New Zealand using a Thomson TG585 v8.
Firewall is Bitdefender 2013 - disabling/making exceptions makes no difference
Phone that cannot be detected wirelessly is a Samsung Galaxy S4 - two of them.
Problem:
- My laptop seems to have trouble connecting to wifi. This is both at home and at uni and sometimes also at work. Sometimes it will connect, other times it will just be "limited connectivity". While at work it connects easier, it will just disconnect itself randomly several times a day with no problem on immediate subsequent reconnection. It seems that this problem is persistent and consistent. It has encountered problems like this for months at least, however I am only now posting about this problem as I think this issue extends to recognising other devices trying to connect via the wifi also. I am not sure about the correlation, but my Galaxy S4 (two of them - one of which is brand new - the old one was stolen) cannot connect to Kies wirelessly via wi-fi, and spotify on my desktop client also does not recognise it. This is of course over the same wifi network.
It's hard to provide additional details because I'm not sure what i should be looking at. The only additional detail is that when connected to LAN, it seems to be able to connect to wifi much easier (still takes a while and sometimes it wont work, but only like 20% of the time, as opposed to being unable to connect 95% of the time without LAN connection). This has only been tested and observed at home so far.
What I've tried:
- Honestly I have tried so many things I cannot even recall what. As a basis, simple restarts, driver updates, etc. have all been performed. I've done a looooot of googling and looking around this forum, however a problem like this is so common with so many possible causes it's just impossible to have tried everything - but everything I have tried, obviously hasn't worked.
Please help! I feel I have tried everything to no avail. Honestly I'm not so bothered since I can just connect via LAN, however not being able to have my device recognised wirelessly by spotify is the killer as I can't sync my local files @_@.
Thanks in advance to any help. Please request further details if needed.
