Wireless router

Have a Netgear router with wireless modem running Windows 7. We lost power in a thunderstorm then the router would not re-connect. Tried all manner of things including leaving router off for a few hours. Was able to hard wire to get on internet. After a few hours re-connected router and all seemed okay - it apparently finds my previous sign on for the wireless connection but it's actually offline. Did change router for same manufacturer's router but with same result.
