Onboard Ethernet is AWOL

Running a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H motherboard. All has worked great for about 2 years. Now my ethernet adapter has disappeared from device manager. My wireless adapter still shows and I can still connect that way, but not wired. Tried downloading and installing drivers, but says the controller is not found.

EDIT: Windows XP Pro

Any ideas?
