I am in the UK and I use broadband via a phone line and wired from the phone socket downstairs to pc upstairs on a plug in extension cable to a simple Sagem 800 e2t USB modem plugged into the pc .
Pc is a desktop running on xp home it has ethernet ports on the back and also a wireless screw connection with an ASUS antenna which I have never used.
My question is this; I which to change to wireless to avoid the wires going upstairs.
What equipment do I need ? I have read lots of website information but still cannot get my head around it.
I have looked at the Tp-link TL-WR841N Router which is available locally and within my price range, but it seems that I might need more than just this item.
PC internet mainly used for email and surfing and ocasionally watching online video.
I don't need the wireless to move about the house, just to get rid of the wiring from downstairs to upstairs.
