Problem with router not a able to handle gaming

Hello,
We changed our ISP to WOW recently, and at first they gave us an Arris router (AC-22?) which worked fine for web surfing and watching movies. However, whenever I would try and play Dota 2 and CSGO, The games would stutter and be unplayable. However, the speed we are receiving is 25 Mbps, and my ping is <50 with 0% Packet loss. Because of this, I purchased a ASUS N66-U router to replace this Arris one, but the phone line runs through the arris router, and I couldn't find a router that has a phone jack. So what I did was I connected the Asus to the Arris router with a Ethernet cable into a normal port on the arris plugged into the WAN? Port on the Asus. This gives us two separate networks to connect off of. Now when I Play, I get the stuttering for 10 sec at a a time a random intervals, and especially while playing csgo. Recently it has completely frozen my game, however I can still hear VoIP and when I go to check the browser, it is also unable to connect to the internet. I'm still "connected" to the wifi signal, but it seems to stop broadcasting. Please help with this, I'm at my last drop of patience with this whole thing.
