When streaming Netflix or Amazon movies there are frequent short pauses where you actually miss hearing a word or two. Our high speed internet service is through cable. I have troubleshooted this issue with them and everything looks good on their end. I have a Motorola Surfboard model SB6141 (DOCSIS 3.0 modem). The cable company suggested the problem could be with the router, which is a Cisco Valet M10. I have never received any info from them regarding any updates. I have had the displeasure of talking to a support person at Cisco on another occasion so I hesitate doing so again......not to mention they will want me to pay for their help. So, here's my dilemma.....should I try to check for & download any updates (this scares me, lol), or just get a new router which probably would fit better with cable's high speed internet? And, if I do purchase a new router, should I get wireless? What router is recommended? We have 1 laptop, 1 iPad, 3 iPhones, printer/fax, and Samsung Smart TV. I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!
