Constantly dropping WiFi with new router

Hi everyone,

I have an older (ok, it's really really old) Dell laptop that I still like to use for a few things. I've never ever had problems with my wifi dropping out in the 11 years I've owned it. This Christmas I got a new router (TP Link Archer C7) and set up both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks in my house. I'm getting fantastic connection speeds and awesome coverage on all of my other devices. I should mention I've named the two networks separately and connect each device based on its capability. This Dell machine will only connect to the 2.4 GHz network obviously. Ever since I've put it on the new network my wifi drops out at least once every ten minutes. There doesn't seem to be any pattern or cause. I've tried updating the driver for the network card with no improvement. I've also run Xirrus Wifi-Inspector and it does not show any loss of the actual signal when the network card drops the connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is beyond frustrating!!
