Would really appreciate some help with the following issue:
The other day I started to get issues connecting to the internet through my Ethernet port. Im not having any issues connecting through the wireless connection. Ive have tried isolating what the issue could be, it does not seem to be the Ethernet ports on the wireless modem as there are other devices connected that are working fine. I have also tried using multiple Ethernet cables I can still connect to the router through Ethernet, but am just not getting an internet connection.
About a month ago the ISP updated the SSID but I could still connect after that by Ethernet. I noticed when I plug it in it tries to connect to the old SSID and not the new one that is used when I try to connect to the wireless.
I tired following this guys instructions and change the name of the SSID of the lan connection to the new wireless one. Basically I edited the name of the lan profile in the registry. Following these instructions:
http://www.howtogeek.com/176148/how-...n-windows-8.1/
That didnt change anything besides it stopped saying limited connectivity when connected by Ethernet.
Other Potentially Relevant Information:
Running Windows 8.1 Updated from windows 7
Noticed the problem started occurring after installing Avast a week ago
Tried updating the network card drivers No avail
The network adapter is Realtek PCLe GBE Family Controller Driver Version 8.1.510.2013
Also running a VPN
Help would really be appreciated!
