Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server

I have a similiar yet slightly different problem to the user adamblacky in this post:

http://forums.techguy.org/networking...imary-dns.html

I'm on a private home laptop with housemates. We have around 6 laptops accessing the same network and only 2 have problems. One's on vista and one's on windows 7. The first one I want to fix is the vista laptop. The different thing to adamblacky's problem is that both these laptops occasionally connect fine (usually when they've just been switched on) for anywhere from 30secs to a few minutes or more, then the connection drops out. Right now, I haven't been able to connect for a while with the vista one. The error message I'm getting is

Windows tried a repair but a problem still exists.

The user Compaq__ had a fix for adamblacky which I've put below:

***
Go into CONTROL PANEL. Click on NETWORK CONNECTIONS.

You should see a WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION in there. Right-Click on it and click PROPERTIES.
Find INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP) in the list
Click Properties
Click ADVANCED
Click the DNS tab
Click ADD
Type the IP Address 192.168.2.1
Click ok on everything and run that repair again just to make sure it takes the new info.

****

I tried to follow this fix but it didn't work for me. I'm guessing my fix will be slightly different.

Also, when I go to my Network Connection Properties I have two options for INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP):

- Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
- Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Thanks and sorry for the long opening post. I figured I could kill a bunch of opening prompting questions for more information on the problem by posting it all in one.

Appreciate your time and hopefully you can help me with my situation.

Andoc
