Hey ho everyone. I have a common problem that I have seen a lot of people have. I'm posting on here because I don't really know a lot about networks, but here's my story. My dad has a computer with Windows XP on it, but it is running very slow and needs to be replaced. The computer is wired to a ATT modem that has a router (both wired and wireless) in it. The internet does work with a ethernet cable plugged in on the WinXP OS, however I will mention. So he bought a new hard drive and a new version of Windows 7. He unplugged the XP hard drive and only had the new (Win 7) drive plugged in. I ran the instillation process with the cable still plugged in, never changed a thing. Once Win7 was finalized, no ethernet internet connection. We run a diagnostics and I get the error message posted in the subject. We have switched back to the WinXP hard drive and the internet is working just fine. We also formatted the Win7 hard drive and ran a new install and got the same result. Here is a little bit about my system.

Now I did a lot of researching last night and found a lot of posted processes. None of them worked, but a few of them gave me odd responses. I am going to copy and paste some of the processes that I have read from here.
I did all of these commands. They all said that they finished successfully, but when I reset my computer, there was no change in effect.
I did some searching but I was able to find this program. I had to start WLAN, but that made no difference. My dads computer doesn't have any wireless capobility, so that really didn't matter. Everything else was "started" with either "manual" or "automatic"
Also, nothing of any importance is failing in the device manager.
Now here is something that I think is the source of the problem. I tried this process that I have found on here with ipconfig. I type in /release and it goes through the process successfully. But when I type in /renew, it sits for a long time. It eventually gives me an error message that says this:
I dono why that would happen, do any of you? But after working on all of this, here is my copy and paste of my ipconfig/all.

There are a couple of things here that I think might also be a problem. For one, the Default Gateway is blank. I dono what that means, but I don't think its very good. Also something that I noticed is the DNS Server is giving an odd reading. "fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1" and so on. I opened my laptop to connect to the router wirelessly (using a Windows 8.1 machine) and I don't get the same odd readings. I can post that too if you think that might help. I hope I haven't flooded this with too much information. I just want to try to avoid wasting peoples time by posting things that I have already tried. If any of you guys have an idea on how to help me, it would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks guys, later.
