media in state of disconnect

My issue is im trying to release and renew my ip so I can try and get one of my online games to work again but it keeps saying it cant because the media is in a state of disconnect so I need to know how to change that or fix it so I can do what I need to do I've tried every option that I have come across from cleaning out the dns catches and on and on lol but nothing fixes the media problem so im sure its just a simple setting or option somewhere to change it on all the connections I have wired or wireless
