ok, be ready, this is going to be an odd problem, at least it is for me.
operating system: windows 7
I just recently moved homes to a new place, with a family member, and they have their own ISP and router, which is different from the one I was using back home. I go to open a program that worked fine until I was here, connecting to the new router, and it tells me I need to open up ports 10001 and 433.
normally, this would be an easy issue to fix, however, when I opened up netgear genie in my browser and tried to forward those ports, it still didn't work, even after I hit apply, and created the two new services for each port.
then, I went to canyouseeme.org, an open port checking tool, and it said
"Error: I could not see your service on 66.196.16.100 on port (10001)
Reason: Connection timed out"
and my ip showed up on that website as: 66.196.16.100 same on websites such as whatismyip.com
this confused me, because when I got to open CMD as admin, and input Ipconfig, my ipv4 shows up as: 25.4.16.188
(my ipv6 shows up as: 2620:9b::1904:10bc if that will help at all,
another oddity here is that my default gateway shows up as: 2620:9b::1904:10bc with 25.0.0.1 directly underneath it, but no field leading from the second adress. I have googled this, and somebody told me to go to my connection properties and uncheck ipv6, but this changed nothing.)
and, when I am in my netgear genie, my Ip shows up as: 192.168.1.10
so, ultimately, my question is, is the fact that I can't open these ports to be seen from the internet due to the fact that my computer has a different IP adress in cmd than it has on the router's settings? and if so, how can I fix this issue?
