Second router (WRT54G) as wireless access point

Hello.I'm adding an old Linksys WRT54G to my home network as an access point to get a stronger signal at the end of the house. I've read about 6 other posts on how to do this so still probs.

When I change the second router ip address to 10.0.0.254 (the primary router is set up with a DHCP range of 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.252 and its IP address is 10.0.0.1) I can't log back into it! I've reset the Linksys and started over a couple of times. It's default IP is 192.168.1.1 and I changed the settings to the 10.0.0.254.

I have a Comcast router (SMCD3GNV) and have it wired to my second router - the WRT54G. All the example posts use the example home network of 192.168.0.1. I want to keep the primary router network - which is using 10.0.0.1. So it is set up with the Linksys IP of 10.0.0.254 and the default gateway of 10.0.0.1.

My questions are:

1. What are the specific, exact settings supposed to be on my screenshot attached?
2. What do I use to logon directly to the 2ndary router (AP) after all changes?

I have seen the tutorial at this link as well as others:
http://m.wikihow.com/Convert-Linksys...n-Access-Point

Under Static IP, should Internet IP address be: 10.0.0.254?
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0?
Gateway: 10.0.0.1?
Static DNS: 0.0.0.0 for all of them?

Thank You!

The primary router and its wireless network work great.
