old router and modem

Dear Friends,

I have an issue with wireless networking.
I got into an apartment where there was a wifi connection provided by a router+ modem in one room (call it: Office) which is also the location of the ethernet cable source of internet; and another room (call it: Bedroom 1) with router ASUS RT-N15 + modem.
From my room (call it: Bedroom 2) I received the signal from either one but weak or not at all. I asked the phone company to improve it and what they did is only to substitute the router in the Office with a more powerful one (Linksys WRT 1900AC). I get the signal a little better but the router + modem in bedroom 1 is not working at all now. I tried to make a reset but nothing. And I still can't use the new wifi for the TV anyway.

I have to ad as extra information that the router+modem in Bedroom 1 has no cable (ethernet) connection to anything. Just modem and router connected to each other and to the power source. Therefore, from what I understand, it was just using the signal (bridge? AP? Repeater?) coming from Office.
My question to you guys is the following:
1) how can I use or re-use the room+router in bedroom 1 to improve the signal coming from Office?
2) I found on internet that it is possible, but I do not know how to do it. Can I use it as a bridge? or an Access Point? or Repeater?
3) And which of the 3 functions it was already performing before without any ethernet connection, but just connected to the power? I do not want to spend any more money with cables or other gears.

Hope this information help and is clear.

Thank you so much guys!

Best

Francesco
