I am having trouble sharing files between Windows 8 and Windows XP; workgroup name is the same on both pcs; I can see both pcs on each pc (the other and itself). I can access the Windows XP files in Windows 8 under network or by typing it \\thecomputername
However, I have a few problems.
1) In Windows 8, when I right click on a file and choose Share With, the other pc is not there, and if I also choose the submenu of specifc people, typing in \\thecomputername does nothing
1b) Selecting a File and then going to the Charms bar and choosing Share, does not show my other pc there
2) On the Windows XP computer, I can't access the Windows 8 computer via the workgroup. i.e. \\win8comp because I am being asked for a username and password. What do I put there? On the Windows 8 computer under advanced sharing settings for All Networks, Under Password Protected sharing, I chose the option of Turn off password protected sharing, but this doesn't seem to make a difference. I am still asked for a username and password on the Windows XP computer.
