So for a while i've been using a PCI 802.11g wifi card. Then this morning when my hdd drive failed, i decided to also upgrade my wifi to a USB TP Link 300mbs usb wifi stick. Windows installed fine and I installed all relevant drivers. Initially I had put the the wifi into a usb 2.0 port. It connected fine and ran brilliantly (downloading 6mb/s) for about 5 minutes before then saying it had limited connectivity, trouble shooter said default gateway not found and fixed it. Only for it to repeatedly have the same error, working for a little while, then back to limited connectivity.
I tried re-installing the driver, setting a manual IP, restarting the router and installing windows updates. None of them have worked. It also works perfectly fine with an ethernet cable although I am unable to run a cable to where the pc is normally.
On the off chance, I decided to try putting it into a USB 3.0 slot. Lo and behold, the connection is fine! Or at least, it appears to be. Whilst it does not lose connection, it is only working at a throttled pace (less than 1mb/s normally but peaked at 1.8mb/s). My mouse and keyboard both work fine in the usb 3.0 slots (i have nothing else to test with it) and all drivers are up to date.
Does anyone know how to fix either issue?

in usb 3 slot (NB i changed my pc name in case router was getting confused with my pc before I put in the new hdd/windows)
