Im about to go on a fallout temper tantrum after working on this all day with no results.
I built a new computer a month ago running Windows 8. My computer used a belkin USB wireless got connect to my old router just fine. I "upgraded" to an xfinity operated router yesterday. Now every laptop and wireless phone and device runs smoothly with much faster internet. However my main desktop PC can only connect to the router (with a full five bars) but cannot actually go on the internet. When I connect to my router I can browse the web for a maximum of 20 seconds before it stops working (even though it says I'm still connected with internet access and full bars). I look at the error messages in the events panel and its the 1014 DNS error where it says "all the DNS servers are not responding".
I have tried a million possible fixes which include the following:
Restarting the router
Restarting the computer
Inserting the DNS manually (I tried both the 208.67.... and the 8.8.8.8 ones)
Disabling Ipv6
Buying a new wireless USB connecter
Trying all the ipconfig commands in cmd
Resetting my router
Calling my ISP provider
Disabling my antivirus
Booting in safe mode with networking
Uninstalling the relevant drivers and reinstalling them
manually adding my PC on my router admin panel
changing my IP address
and many many others
Does anybody have the slightest idea what this might be?
