I recently replaced my combination modem/router as I had been having connectivity issues. I use my Android phone to do speedtests and seem to have identified that the issue now is with my laptop. The laptop is four years old this month. I notice that when I carry the laptop closer to the modem/router, its connection speed seems fine. The laptop operates fast, however if I am streaming a film, I notice that it buffers a lot more these past months the further I move from the router. I generally have no issues with the computer other than the speed. The wireless connection status shows that the signal quality is around 65.0MBPS no matter where in the house I am.

It obviously is the computer because five months ago, the computers speed was fast and constant no matter where in the house I had it set up. With the new wifi modem/router it is not disconnecting on its own like before, but it is just a distance factor away from my wifi that is my issue. The computer used to request that I reset the network adapter, but I cannot identify where that is or where the antenna for the wifi reception is located.

The issue is obviously with the laptop computer and any suggestions for a layman user would be appreciated.
