Hello, up until now my internet connection has been fine, using a wireless USB adapter to connect to my BT Home Hub router that is downstairs in my house.
A friend wanted me to download a game, i had trouble connecting to the game and one of the possible fixes of this was widely supported as "a working fix", which involved these steps:
1. open up windows search bar.
2. search for services.msc then press enter.
3. In the list of services, scroll down to "UPnP Device Host", click it and press "Stop service".
4. Now do the same thing but with the service "SSDP Discovery".
5. Exit the window and go to control panel-> Network and Internet-> Network and Sharing Centre-> Change advanced sharing settings (to the left)-> Under "network discovery" select to turn off network discovery
6. SAVE CHANGE
In hindsight i should not of been messing around with internet settings but whats done is done, doing these steps did nothing for me so i reverted them.
(re-enabled SSDP Discovery, for me, UPnP Device Host was already stopped as a service so i did not have to do that step)
only now after reverting these steps, im getting random disconnection issues from my connection to my router, (every few minutes).
im thinking that when changing SSDP Discovery back from stopped, to started, it did not enable/disable everything that i did originally, when i stopped it.
any thoughts?
note: it has not caused me to not be able to reconnect to my internet, they are just random few second disconnects, it reconnects itself a few seconds after the disconnect and carries on working perfectly fine, until the next disconnect, which is usually less than a few minutes later.
