Computer Is Connected, But No Access To Internet

Hello everyone. Thank you for your time in reading this.

My girlfriend has recently had a problem with her computer in that the computer shows that it has
connectivity to the internet, but none of the applications can access the internet. She is able to
connect to other computers over LAN just fine and has no problems with that, it's just reaching
the internet that is the problem.

What has me stumped on this is how browsers are acting during this. With most network related issues
the browser will display some kind of error, either that the page cannot be displayed or something. But
for both Firefox and Internet Explorer you can type in any URL(ie; www.Google.com) and when you try
to load that webpage the browser shows a loading bar for a split second, then the URL is cleared from
the address bar and it stays on a blank page.

It does the same with bookmarks, links and everything else I have tried. As I said, applications have issues as well. Guild Wars 2 says it cannot connect to the server, as does Steam and Origin.

I have cleaned her harddrive using Malware Bytes' Anti-malware as well as using Comodo's Anti-Virus on both of our computers. She did have a lot of malware but removing it didn't solve the issue. Also I am unable to restore her computer to any earlier point because of an error that says something along the lines of "Cannot restore file "/c/$recyclebin...", I could get the actual error tonight if that helps.

I appreciate any help that can be offered as I've tried everything I can think of short of reformatting her HDD and reinstalling windows.
