Wireless issues galore

Hello, I'm kind of new to all this but I'll try and explain it as best I can. I've looked throughout the Internet for similar problems to the ones I'm experiencing but any/all solutions I've tried simply haven't worked. I'm currently using a D-Link 2740R wirelessly. The problem(s) I'm having are:

Wireless connection consistently dropping, from a full five bars to one bar, repeatedly, despite my location staying exactly the same.

dBM going from around -44 to -90, again, consistently.

Having to constantly release/renew via ipconfig in order to get any kind of Internet access when I am eventually able to connect to the router.

Wired connection works absolutely fine, wireless is being an absolute disaster and I have absolutely no idea why. I've tried changing my router channel, resetting my router and pretty much anything else I can think of. I should also probably mention that I'm using Windows 7.
