My desktop cannot connect to the internet. It is using a wired connection. I tried connecting to the internet both wired and wirelessly with my laptop and it was able to access the internet both times. I used the same ethernet cable for my laptop and desktop too. Could this be a hardware problem for my desktop, or could there possibly be settings on my desktop that are screwed up within it? When I plug the wire into my desktop, light from the plug comes on, both green and orange. And when I look at my modem, it shows that my desktop is in fact connected to it. The bottom right corner of my desktop shows that there is a computer screen with a caution sign in front of it, meaning "No internet access".
I've been having weird issues with my router recently. It was going on and off the past week, and then yesterday it just completely stopped. My modem was not able to receive anything from the router. Today, I called the company and they reset my signal and said everything seems to be fine with my router. The modem was still not working, so I got another modem(the same modem that was used when testing my laptop and desktop in the first paragraph), and those were the results. I portforwarded the other week, and I dont know if any of this has to do with my desktop not connecting to the wired internet, but I was doing some whacky stuff on my desktop under Networks when attempting to portforward so I feel like I should say this to make sure these aren't potential causes.
I have a technician coming tomorrow anyway to check the router out, but since my laptop is working, I feel like Im pointlessly making him come out here, to look at a working router.
Pls help and thank you
