I just moved to a new apt with an existing roommate 3 days ago and the internet here has been extremely lackluster the last 2 days.
The first day I was here it worked fine: I could stream HD videos perfectly. It has been slow ever since then.
I was originally using a netgear wireless N-300 adapter. It constantly said it was connected but rarely worked. The internet still works fine on my roommates laptop, so I figured it might be my adapter. I just purchased the N-900 Adapter but it stills almost as slow (it never drops the connection, but it is ridiculously slow).
I read somewhere that there is a way to change the number of devices that the wireless network supports. How might I go about doing that?
I am currently downloading WiFi Inspector to see if there's a different channel that isn't being used that I can switch to. There are a lot of WiFi networks that my adapter picks up so I'm hoping this is the problem.
I've ran speedtest.net and my download speed is .17 Mbps but my upload speed is 4.91 Mbps! what would cause that!?
Here's my ipconfig output:
