Hey, I'm getting ready to install DDWRT on my Linksys WRT160n V3. I've been reading up on "how to" for weeks.. literally several weeks.. In preparation to flash my device, I felt the need to telnet my router to make sure that I could, before I've reached the point of no return.. as my router does not have any firmware available for download on it's manufacturer's site.
When I use XP's telnet to telnet to 192.168.1.1, (yes, I enabled the service and set the firewall to allow it,) it only gives me the response:
So, I downloaded putty. When I try to do the same thing in putty, I get this error:
I'd like to get this sorted out and find out exactly how to telnet my router before I jump into upgrading the firmware. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
