Solved: Google Nexus 7 Hotspot Connectovity Problem

I have a new Google Nexus 7 2013 with microsimfor Internet connectivity. I set up a WiFi hotspot on this device to allow my laptops to use it as a router to the internet. All was working fine until I upgraded Android to 4.4.2. Now my laptops. Which are running Windows 8.1, cannot connect to the Nexus.

I have tried reconfiguring the WiFi hotspot (name/password) on both the Nexus and the laptops. This has at least confirmed that handshaking is occurring as incorrect passwords are identified as such. Also, the Mobile Data flag for the provider SIM is turned on, and the Set Mobile Data Limit flag is turned off.

Friends have tried to connect their devices, both Windows and Android based, with no luck. The Internet comma on the Nexus are fine - I'm posting from it.

I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
