Recently I switched over from a netgear wireless g router to a TP Link (TL-WR940N) wireless n router (I would have preferred netgear again but was on a budget).
I've tried to maximize my wireless speed as much as possible, and I now get about 34Mbps through wireless out of the 50Mbps I'm guaranteed through cable isp (router is 300Mbps, wired connection tests at around 52Mbps but I can't use wired in my room, only wireless). I'm supposed to get 3Mbps guaranteed upload speed.
When I run a speedtest, it does indeed get up to that number, but soon afterwards my internet access disappears. My computer still shows as connected to the internet, the wireless signal seems good, but there is no internet access. I cannot visit any sites, not even the web-based router settings page. To fix this, I have to disconnect from the network, then reconnect and the net works just fine.
This also happens when I try to upload videos to youtube, for example. It seems to happen whenever I use my full upload speed. Is there anything I can change or tweak in order to not have the router kick me off? It's really rather bothersome. And if anyone has any suggestions about how to get my full download speed through wireless, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance! If you need any more details in order to answer, ask away.
