The old ethernet card died. I bought a RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet controller v. 2.13 to replace it in my Compaq Presario SR1710NX. Got the case off, found 2 slots that would work, tried both. No luck. Then read I need a new driver ? Need help sorting this out. Proper installation protocol, which driver etc. So no access on this desktop, only have my laptop to get on net.
The Info Utility software picked up info on my laptop [ which is not the subject PC under consideration ]. I had to try to correct the info below. Some info may be suspect.
