I have an Dell Dimension 8200 running XP SP3. I'm trying to set up a wireless network. I had Linksys tech support configure the AE3000 wireless adapter and it says it's working properly in Device manager. The blue light is on the adapter and it blinks every 9 seconds. There are no yellow exclamation points either. Yet the adapter is not connecting.
Cablevision is my ISP. They sent me a Sagemcom smart router and I believe I have set up properly. However, when I remove the ethernet cable from the computer, the wireless network can't be found and I lose my Internet connection. When I go to Control Panel>network connections and to Lan & high speed Internet and to local area connection 3, my Linksys adapter is shown as not connected.
I had to call Lynksys support because I could not get the adapter to work with the CD and the technician was able to load the drivers off their site to get it to work. I find it pretty sad that they package the wrong drivers on their CD but that's another story. So, at this point, the adapter is shown to be working properly in Device Manager but I can't connect to the Internet.
The tech support guy at Cablevision said that he thought the problem was that the adapter was configured before a network was in place for it to see and somehow I have to configure the adapter to see my network. I have no idea how to do that so I was hoping someone could advise me.
