Hi network wizards!
I'm moving to a new home this summer and I've made a diagram to illustrate my ideal set-up (see attached, or link http://i.imgur.com/jrEWVlq.jpg)
What do you think will give me the best way to get the upstairs area to have fast wired and reliable wireless?
I was thinking of two options for wired:
1) Get the ethernet upstairs directly by running cat6 cable from window to window
OR
2) Use a powerline adapter
And then for wireless use a repeater of some sort and hope the signal is good or buy a second wireless modem, connect it as a slave to the main router downstairs (not sure if slave is the right word) and use that upstairs for both wired and wireless. If I use 2 routers and each is broadcasting the same SSID would they interfere with each other and weaken reception? Do I need to create 2 separate SSID's?
Help, I know I'm a newbie and any advice would be much appreciated!
